ponus drawings

I won't be able to work on ponus for some time because I am totally busy preparing my departure to Taiwan. All I can do is posting some art that will be used in the next part of the game.
It is so easy to see that two of the drawings have been done on paper and the other one directly on the computer.

High school notebook filled with drawings

I just found a notebook from high school. It is so funny the way I used to draw everywere to kill time during boring lectures.

Model drawings

The sketches were made in Germany.
I added the colors in France.

inkscape drawing

This is my first attempt in using the vector graphic editor inkscape.
The drawing should have been a Christmas present for a friend, but I am not really satisfied with the result, so I guess I have to find an other way for not having to pay for a Christmas present...

It is not totally finished but my computer is so slow than doing complex vectorial graphics with it is really painful.

The gimp + Jimmy Pop

I just spent some time playing with the gimp and a picture of one of my favorite singers, Jimmy Pop, who plays in the group Bloodhound gang.

Here are some clips of the bloodhound gang :

new ponus drawings

I just post two drawings I did today for ponus. Posting my work on the fly helps me to keep doing it. It is some kind of psychological constraint : "Today I have to finish this and that and post it on the blog".

The sims

Ponus beta

[Edited : the links point to a new version]

I spoke about the game I am doing. If you want to see what it will look like, you can try the beta version. For the moment you can just hang around, and most of the objects don't interact at all (but you can go out of the room if you are clever)

I am not sure it works well, because I never tried it on other computers, so please report any bug (especially the windows version, because I used some software to turn python scripts into executable and I don't know how good this thing is)

The keys are :
- F1 to switch the langage (French or English)
- F11 to switch in full screen mode (it should work only if your computer accepts 400 * 300 resolution.)
- ESC to quit the game.

For linux :

You need to have python and pygame installed. Then download and extract the sources, go into "game" and open the script "" with python.

For windows :
download the binaries, extract it and run "game.exe"

The everything machine

I just wrote a small science fiction text that explains how we could create a machine that grants any wish.

It is based on the quantum suicide experiment. In short : We exist in many universes, and only the ones where we are alive are to be considered real.
So if we can program a machine to kill us if we don't get the things we want, then we would be sure to get it, because only the reality branches where our wishes have been granted become real.

Such a machine could be use to win at gambling for example, or to become the ruler of the planet.

And this time, I wrote in English.

After Death Experience

Dresden Erasmus life comic strips

As some of you may know, I come back from Dresden (in Germany), where I spent one year as an Erasmus student.
After the movie "l'auberge espagnole", it is not a secret anymore that being an Erasmus student is all about spending time in parties and trying to get laid.

Here are some strips I did the first semester I was there.
I can't put everything here because some of the stories are too personal. Anyway, I hope you will enjoy it.
And, yes, sorry again, it is all in French.

Les peluchiens

Encore de la science fiction

Voici une seconde nouvelle.
lien vers le pdf

(Note to not French speaking people : I am sorry all my novels are written in French, That's the only language I know enough to use when doing literacy.
Maybe, maybe, in the future I could try to write something in English. But let face it : much of my friends are French and I would actually be amazed if more than 3 people read my work :-( )

Nouvelle de science fiction

Voici une nouvelle de science fiction écrite l'an passé. Je profite de mon nouveau blog pour la diffuser. La nouvelle s'appelle "dilemme".

Animals drawings

These are just small drawings I did as a test of my newly bought graphic tablet. I think it looks just great (I mean, compared with paper drawings).
I always thought I could never work without paper, now I just wonder how I could ever go back to it.

All these picts are from a children Photo book I use to read as a Kid.

Introducing Ponus

I am working on a video game project, the current name is "Ponus" (it may change in the future.)
The goal is to create something similar to the Monkey Island games. Since I have been unable to find a good open source adventure game engine, I did it myself. Everything is done in Python, using pygame for the graphics render.

The project is far from being finished, the engine itself is not completed yet. Waiting for the actual playable game, here are some screen shots.

Charlie's blog is now open (and we cry of happiness)

Hey this is the first post of this blog.
I' m not really sure what it will be about. Mostly drawing, computers and sciences I guess.
Anyway, that's a personal blog, so I will just put whatever I want in it.
